On Friday, March 15 (2021), Javier Chinchón (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) will present the paper Victims of the past and victims of the present: Obligations of the States regarding the recovery of democratic memory for further discussion with attendees.

Javier Chinchón is a professor of International Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and a member / consultant of multiple Spanish and Ibero-American organizations; including Rights International Spain, of which he was a co-founder. Within it, he has participated in the design and development of different actions and demands before international human rights protection bodies. In his presentation, he will analyze the advances that have been made in the field of International Law in relation to the obligations imposed on States in terms of the recovery of democratic memory, focusing in particular on reparations victims of serious human rights violations are entitled.

About the Law & Justice Workshop (TDJ)

The TDJ is a space for discussion on issues of legal and political philosophy where young researchers participate with the aim of sharing their doctoral and postdoctoral research and getting used to the interaction of academic activity.

The invitation to submit works is not limited to members of the community of the University Carlos III of Madrid, but extends to any researcher, regardless of where they came from.
