On Friday, February 16, 2024 (12:00pm, Madrid), Prof. Dr. Martin Borowski (Heidelberg University, Germany) will participate in the LXXIV session of the Amuchastegui Permanent Seminar with the presentation: «Kelsen’s Pure Theory of Law: Legal Power and Derogation».
Chair of Public Law, Constitutional Theory, and Philosophy of Law, Professor Dr. Martin Borowski’s research focuses on the philosophy of law (in particular: concept of law, morality, and normativity of law), the theory of fundamental and human rights (claiming law as correctness of human rights, structure of fundamental and human rights, subsumption and balancing as methods of applying fundamental rights and law in general), and law and religion (dogmatic-theoretical and constitutional dimension of the fundamental rights of freedom of belief and conscience).

The Permanent Seminar Jesús G. Amuchastegui—which replaced the previous name Permanent Seminar Law and Justice (SPDJ) as a small act of recognition for the mentioned member of the group who passed away in 2008—aims to be an active space for the evaluation, promotion, and dissemination of research in the field of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy in Spain, fostering debate with internationally recognized academics about their ongoing research and latest publications.
