Contemporary theories of justice

On Monday, November 30, 2020 (18:00, Madrid) Professor Rodolfo Vázquez (Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology) will participate in the Jesús G. Amuchastegui Permanent Seminar to present and discuss his book: Teorías contemporáneas de la justicia. Introducción y notas críticas. (Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas de la UNAM, 2020).

Rodolfo Vázquez is currently professor emeritus and full-time researcher in the Academic Department of Law at ITAM and member of the National System of Researchers (level 3). He holds a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy from Universidad Iberoamericana, a Ph.D. in Philosophy from UNAM and a law degree from ITAM.

He is a member of the Colegio de Bioética A.C. and a fellow of CONACYT, the British Council and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation (2005). Additionally, he has been a visiting professor at the universities of Oxford, Genoa and Carlos III, Madrid. He directs with Ernesto Garzón Valdés the "Biblioteca de Ética, Filosofía del Derecho y Política", and with José Ramón Cossío, the collection "Doctrina Jurídica Contemporánea", both published by Fontamara, Mexico. He is founder and member of the editorial board of the journal Isonomía.

His publications include Educación liberal (1997), Liberalismo, estado de derecho y minorías (2001), Del aborto a la clonación (2004), Derecho, moral y poder (2005), Entre la libertad y la igualdad (2006, 2010), Teoría del derecho (2008), Las fronteras morales del derecho (2009), Democracia, religión y constitución (2010), Consenso socialdemócrata y constitucionalismo (2012) and Derechos humanos (2015).


About the SPA Seminar

The Jesús G. Amuchastegui Seminar - a name that has replaced the previous Permanent Seminary Law and Justice as a small act of recognition of the aforementioned member of the Group who died in 2008 - aims to be an active space for evaluation, promotion and dissemination of research in the area of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy in Spain, articulating the debate with academics of international projection about their ongoing researchs and latest publications.
