Crisis of liberal democracy: reflections on the occasion of the centenary of the Weimar Constitution of 1919

On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, André Rufino do Vale (Brasiliense Institute of Public Law, Brazil) will present the paper Crisis of liberal democracy: reflections on the occasion of the centenary of the Weimar Constitution of 1919 for further discussion with attendees.

André Rufino do Vale holds a PhD in Law from the University of Alicante and the University of Brasilia. He is a graduate and Master in Law from the University of Brasilia, with postgraduate degrees in Legal Argumentation from the University of Alicante and in Fundamental Rights from the University Carlos III of Madrid. He is a federal prosecutor in Brazil - member of the State Attorney General's Office - and editor-in-chief of the Constitutional Jurisdiction Observatory of the Instituto Brasiliense de Direito Público (IDP). He is the author of several books on fundamental rights and constitutional jurisdiction, including Eficacia dos Direitos Fundamentais nas Relações Privadas (2004), Estrutura das normas de direitos fundamentais (2009), in addition to books coordinated together with other authors: A jurisprudencia do STF nos 20 anos da Constituição (2010), Mandado de Injunção: estudios sobre a sua regulamentação (2013) and La deliberación en los tribunales constitucionales. Un estudio empírico de las prácticas deliberativas del Tribunal constitucional de España y del Supremo Tribunal Federal de Brasil (2017).


About the Law & Justice Workshop (TDJ)

The TDJ is a space for discussion on issues of legal and political philosophy where young researchers participate with the aim of sharing their doctoral and postdoctoral research and getting used to the interaction of academic activity.

The invitation to submit works is not limited to members of the community of the University Carlos III of Madrid, but extends to any researcher, regardless of where they came from. Prior to the session, a paper for discussion will be distributed to attendees.
