Utopía

On Thursday, January 28, 2021 (16:30, Madrid) Ramiro Ávila Santamaría, professor at the Simon Bolivar Andean University and judge of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador, will participate in the Jesús G. Amuchastegui Permanent Seminar to discuss his book: La utopía del oprimido. Los derechos de la Pachamama (Naturaleza) y el Sumak Kawsay (buen vivir) en el pensamiento crítico, el derecho y la literatura (2019, Akal).

The following will participate as commentators in the session:

  • Prof. Joxerramon Bengoetxea. Professor at the UPV/EHU, former lawyer at the Court of Justice of the European Communities and former Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Security of the Basque Government.
  • Profª. Isabel Wences. Professor at the UC3M. Currently directs the research project "Theories of Justice and Global Human Rights Law [JUSGLOBAL]".
  • Profª Lieselotte Viaene. Professor at UC3M and director of the European project "RIVERS: Indigenous Ontologies of Water; Plurilegal Encounters and Interlegal Translation".
  • Prof. Digno Montalván. Lawyer in human rights - Pre-doctoral researcher UC3M.

About the SPA Seminar

The Jesús G. Amuchastegui Seminar - a name that has replaced the previous Permanent Seminary Law and Justice as a small act of recognition of the aforementioned member of the Group who died in 2008 - aims to be an active space for evaluation, promotion and dissemination of research in the area of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy in Spain, articulating the debate with academics of international projection about their ongoing researchs and latest publications.

Prior to each session, a paper for discussion will be distributed to attendees.
