Study and Discussion Days: New Elites, Old Elitism

What has become of the elites? Is it the elites that govern or the organized masses? And what has become of the anti-elite sentiment? Which elites govern and from where? Are they still national or are they global elites? How are the ruling classes formed today? What connections exist between elites and ruling classes? Are they still the old oligarchies asserting their privileges under new disguises? What revolving doors exist between political, financial, business and academic elites? Are they in competition with each other, or do they respond to homogeneous interests? Are they increasingly visible, exposed to media harassment, or do they act in the shadows? Are they technocratic, or are they ignorant? Are they liberal, or do they cultivate the temptation to use the resources of populism in order not to lose the consensus of the masses?
