Professor Mariano C. Melero de la Torre, from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), will deliver the presentation entitled “Democracy and Human Rights: Two Different Dimensions of Taking Rights Seriously” as part of the “Interest Group on Emerging Rights – Online Seminars” series. Mariano C. Melero de la Torre is Professor of Philosophy of Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Previously, he served as Professor of Political Theory at Carlos III University of Madrid. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from UNED (2005) and a PhD in Law from Carlos III University of Madrid (2017). He has been a visiting researcher at the Universities of Auckland (2011), Toronto (2012), and Bristol (2016). His research has been published in journals such as Ratio Juris, Isonomía, Doxa, and Global Constitutionalism, among others. He is also the author of two books. He is currently involved in two research projects: one on emerging political rights and another on ecological justice and new vulnerabilities.
