On Thursday, October 30, Jan Reinard Sieckmann (Friedrich-Alexander University, Nuremberg, Germany) will participate in the 80th session of the Jesús González Amuchastegui Permanent Seminar with the lecture “The Foundation of Fundamental Rights.”
Jan Reinard Sieckmann is Professor of Legal Theory and Legal Philosophy at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany). He studied law and philosophy in Göttingen, earned his doctorate in 1987, and later worked with Robert Alexy before becoming a professor in Bamberg and, since 2008, in Erlangen. His research focuses on the foundations of law, constitutional theory, and the relationship between legal principles and rules. He is particularly known for his work on normative argumentation, the logic of autonomy, and the dual-nature thesis of law, in which he explores how law combines factual and normative dimensions.
