Accredited Professor in Philosophy of Law (2015), PhD in Law from Carlos III University of Madrid (1994, Nicolás Pérez Serrano Award from CEPC and Extraordinary Award from UC3M); Diploma in European Studies (1986) and Law degree (1985) from the University of Deusto. He has held the Chair in Social Sciences of Spain in Mexico on Human Rights (MEC-FLACSO) and has been a visiting scholar, on several occasions, at the University of Oxford and the Université du Québec à Montréal as well as a visiting researcher at the universities of Torino, Bourdeaux I, and IISJ of Oñati.
Currently, he is the Director of the Research Group on Law and Justice (GIDYJ), Coordinator of the Program in Culture of Lawfulness, Director of Eunomía. Journal on Culture of Lawfulness, Convenor of the Interest Group on Emerging Rights (ICON·S), leads the Spanish Research Network (MCUI) "Culture of legality and fight against corruption (3)" and is an advisor to the State Research Agency in the area of Law.
